A postdoctoral scholarship within the area of cell and molecular biology is available in the laboratory of professor Markus Tamas, in the University of Gothenburg.
The aim of the project is to establish the molecular mechanisms by which arsenic and cadmium, two highly poisonous, carcinogenic and neurotoxic metals, induce protein misfolding, aggregation and toxicity in living cells. The project combines in vitro and in vivo investigations using live cell imaging approaches coupled to molecular and biochemical methods with yeast as model system. The successful candidate will be exposed to a range of scientific tasks and research questions that require a genuine interest in cell and molecular biology.
