After the completion of 10 SafePork conferences (Ames, Iowa, – Copenhagen, Denmark – Washington DC (USA) – Leipzig (DE) – Crete (GR) – Sonoma Valley (California, USA) – Verona, Italy – Quebec, Canada – Maastricht, Netherland – Portland, Maine (USA), the 11 th conference will be held in Porto (Portugal) in 2015.
Porto is one of the oldest tourist destinations in Europe and benefits from a privileged geographic location, complemented by a modern transport and communications network. The richness of its monumental and artistic heritage, Port Wine, numerous leisure facilities and its cultural attractions invite you to visit this contemporary and inspired city well-known for its.
This meeting will be organized and managed in a partnership between Portuguese and Spanish Universities. Four institutions of higher education in veterinarian medicine have teamed up to organize Safepork 2015 meeting: University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar Porto University, Univeristy of Léon and University of Zaragoza.
In both countries, pork assigned industries’ represent one of the main important meat sector and food safety issues are of major significance for pig breeding and pork production industry. Therefore, to organize the Safepork 2015 edition, focusing in the epidemiology and control of foodborne pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in pigs and pork along all production chain, will be of major significance. These issues will allow an active and participative conference for all the intervenient in this sector (producers, technicians, industry, policy makers and researches) that can exchange knowledge and experience, fortifying relationships and discus effective measures to improve food safety, under an integrated perspective.
